The following are only suggestions; you may of course add your own programs to your outing. We work out each plan individually to meet the group’s needs and provide the best possible results. Please note that all evening activities are run and supervised by the teachers/leaders. All horse related programs are run by us only. Other programs are supervised as stated with the program. Typically you choose one horse and one non horse program per day. If you wish not to include horses in your program, please contact us for additional non horse options.

Horse programs:

All riding components are build up on each other and have to be taken consecutively. Horsemanship topics can be taught according to interest of group.

Riding Step 1: Catching, Leading and grooming a horse (this step can be eliminated for day fieldtrips, but not for longer stays)

Step 2: Riding Lesson or 1 hr trailride

Step 3: More lessons or 2 hour trailride

Step 4 Games on horseback

Horsemanship: Horse Safety, General horse care, Tack, Horse colors, Parts of the horse

Non horse related programs:

1. Compass Treasure Hunt (we provide three compasses and a course with various compass readings and a treasure to be found. You teach your students how to use the compass and supervise the activity)

2. Driftwood History We provide you with written material about the history of our immediate area and you can take your group for a hike to see various buildings and/or places that relate to this history

3. Wildlife Shelter We also operate a wildlife shelter here at our place. Though most of the animals are kept well away from human contact, we have a few animals that can be visited and we offer this educational tour to you. Topics include rehabilitation methods, when rehabilitation should be considered and what we can learn from it and wildlife in long-term human care

4. Survival Game This is an all time favorite and offers students an interactive opportunity to learn about omnivores, carnivores, nature’s elements and the human aspect. This game can stretch over hours and days, depending on the group and should only be planned in with sufficient time allocation.
